Traveling to Malaysia, will I need to vaccinate baby

Traveling to Malaysia, will I need to vaccinate baby?
Hi, was wondering if anyone has any advice about infant vaccinations or can let me know where I need to go to get advice. We will be traveling to Malaysia with our 3 month old baby for 10 days visiting KL and Lankowi in April. How young can babies be vaccinated and what vaccines should she have if any? She is fully breast fed. We are not bothering with any vaccines ourselves unless it is important? Unfortunately I live in a remote area in Australia and the GP's here are hopeless, I can guarantee they will not have the information I need that is why I am asking, in fact the child health nurse I just spoke to had no idea and told me to ring around health organisations etc. If it turns out I do need to vaccinate her I will be traveling to the city (2.5 hour plane ride) to get it done. Hi to avoid confusion especially with ppl from the US our baby has had ALL the standard vaccinations required here in Australia, its called immunisation here. I am talking about additional vaccines not normally given here ie: yellow fever, malaria etc.

better safe then sorry

Google the CDC (Center for Disease Control), they will know what vaccines are appropriate. I would say yes because of yellow fever.

I do not think that just because you are going to Malaysia you should get certain vaccines. Your daughter should be vaccinated regardless of location. Here is a vaccination schedule for the United States for children 0-6 years. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/child/2009/09_0-6yrs_schedule_pr.pdf I would say keep her skin covered and avoid bugs and be extremely careful with her, and kids grow up fine in Malaysia so I hope that your trip goes swimmingly.

YES ! I had to travel a lot with my little girl now 4 and everytime she would have to take prevention medication and sometimes vaccines. The airplane itself is full of germ. Dont forget to take your regular baby motrin and tylenol and some medication you would use if you were here. Other countries you dont always get the original brand and sometimes expired dates too on medicine. Hold your babies ears at take of time in the plane Good luck and Enjoy your trip

http://www.traveldoctor.com.au/ I wouldn't vaccinate myself in KL or Lankowi but it doesn't hurt to ask the question about a 3 month old. To be honest it is reasonably sanitised in KL and Lankowi these days these places are not the backwaters of asia. Give these guys a call, they can give better advise (you don't have to take it after all they are in the business of making money) than anyone on here, you may not be able to travel to the city but they may be able to tell you what to tell your local GP.

How much would an animator earn in Malaysia and/or Singapore

How much would an animator earn in Malaysia and/or Singapore?
Kay... it's like this. I'm a M'sian and I LUV luv luv luv LUV animation (2D & 3D)! I absolutely adore it! It's my passion and it's what I want to pursue in the future. My dream... like many other aspiring animators is to work in Pixar and Disney.... But of course I'm taking it one step at a time. So now... I'm preparing to go to college and I know what I want to take right? But the problem is that some of my relatives think that animation is not a suitable course because it doesn't make that much money.... and that animation is for school dropouts who have not much option left. They want me to take a broader subject like computer science, I.T., nursing, or multimedia cuz I will have more job opportunities and be safer money-wise. I know it's totally ridiculous(though I didn't tell them that, of course)... cause animators DO make good money and it's not some trivial-last-resort kind of job either..... it's hard work. Besides.... I'm not doing it for the money, I'm doing it because I LUV it... But they mean well, and I'm grateful for them. However, they did make one good point... that is M'sia does not have much job opportunities for animators as other countries such as Korea, and the U.S... M'sia is just beginning to discover the potential of animation. It will take years before they become (if they becum) an 'animation hub of the world.' So if I become an animator here after graduating I might just end up designing or animating web pages for various companies. If I want to find real work I have to go overseas which my parents can't afford. So I guess my question should be, "Can a Malaysian make a living being an animator in his own country?" I don't want to end up having to do some small job... I want to create characters, I want to put colors into new ideas, I want to make my stories come to life and share them with everyone! But I can't just follow my dreams and not get a single cent... because I have to help my other siblings fulfill their ambition too. Are my relatives right? Should I take a broader course just to be safe or should I put all my effort and passion into specializing in animation? Are there any M'sian animators reading this? HOW MUCH ARE YOU EARNING? Give me some proof that I can show my relatives that I can make a living being an animator in my own country. Help me pls. If I have no choice but to go overseas, Singapore is my best option. I heard that they have a universal studio over there. How much would I make in Singapore then? anyone?

you will earn around rm800-1200 if no projects going on.....under project(which depends on how big that project)rm1200-2500...not more or less...dont think of SG coz they hardly involve in animations...they know they are not pro in it so they gave up.....malaysia itz freakin rare to get employed in this field...only serious project was 'upin & ipin' where the animator earned rm2300 per month...unless your dad is rich and u wanna do a brand new project under you then u might earn HELL LOTZ OF MONEY!!

Co sleepers, how can I get my 6 month old to fall asleep in his crib without nursing to sleep

Co sleepers, how can I get my 6 month old to fall asleep in his crib without nursing to sleep?
My son had pretty bad jaundice and tracheal malaysia which caused him to gasp for breath every now and again. I have also had a difficult healing process including uterine infection, hemorrhage, and mastitis as a result of all this I chose to co sleep with my baby, he often nursed to sleep and now I cannot get him to sleep unless I nurse him and usually once I get out of bed he wakes up! I am returning to medical school in the fall and he will be in daycare so I need him to learn to sleep on his own. I still want to breastfeed and I dont mind if he wakes in the middle of the night to eat as long as he goes back to bed. The cry it out methods have said not to feed him at night but really I dont mind.

well. really i just let my baby cry it out the dr said let them scream but for no longer than 15 minutes. so every fifteen minutes i went in, pput my hand on her tummy, told her it was oky, and gave her a binkie next night, fell asleep in crib with no porblem

my son started sleeping all through the night at 2 months and what i would do just put him down and stay with him for a bit and rub his tummy, then slowly walk away little by little make sure he can still see you, then walk away out of the room and let him cry for a bit, dont worry they'll be fine...you can check on him every now and then just dont let him see you. And he'll be skeeping alone in no time. Good luck

stick to a consistent bedtime routine with bedtime. feed the babe a nice meal and breastfeed him. put him in his crib, turn on the nightlight & sound soother, give him a book, and close the door. he will learn to self soothe. try a pacifier if your child is more oral -it helps.

i breastfeed and also co slept with my daughter, shes almost 9 months and still needs to nurse to fall asleep, its a habit i guess, lol..but i dont mind,( she wont take pacifiers) i do put her in her crib now, so she does sleep in there for half of the night, but the other half she sleeps with me, just as soon as you are done feeding her, just lay her gently in her crib, until her next feeding and do it again, it will get easier...my daughter never stays up when she wants her middle of the night feeding, we got her on a scheduale when she was 2 months old, =] good luck and dont give up
